The Value of Geospatial Information to Local Public
Service Delivery in England and Wales Download
This study, undertaken by ConsultingWhere and economic consultants, ACIL Tasman, for the Local Government Association, is the first to assess the value that geospatial information adds to the economy. Focusing on local public services in England and Wales it takes a macroeconomic approach to evaluting the benefits both within the delivery organisations and externally to the wider business community and citizens. Using techniques proven in Australia and New Zealand it uses a wide range of case studies from across the breadth of services in local government to build up a picture of the business case in financial terms, estimating the annual impact on GDP at £320m per annum. The study also assesses future trends and ways in which this might be further enhanced.
